CRUFTS 2024 - was für ein Erlebnis!

Was für verrückte Tage liegen nun hinter uns…

Nachdem sich Gaya (Malinoid Gloa Ohoh Gaya) und mit Adrian (Amazing Adrian vom Limespark) und Akima (Amazing Akima vom Limespark) gleich 2 ihrer Nachkommen aus unserem Schipperke A-Wurf für die CRUFTS 2024 qualifiziert haben,überlegten wir sehr lange, ob wir uns wirklich „trauen“ auf der „Mutter aller Shows“ zu starten. Und ja, wir taten es!
So kam letzten Montag unsere Irina mit Adrian aus Portugal geflogen, hatte dann noch eine Nacht bei uns, bevor es am Dienstag abend mit dem Auto in Richtung Calais zur Fähre ging.
Hier trafen wir unsere schweizer Freunde Andrea und Laura Hitz. Allein die Überfahrt war für uns alle ein Erlebnis und in Dover angekommen wurde es ernst… alle fahren mal sowas von auf der falschen Straßenseite in UK :)
Aber auch diese Aufgabe wurde gelöst und nach 300 Meilen in UK kamen wir müde aber glücklich in Birmingham an. Am Abend wurde unser Team noch von weiteren schweizer Schlachtenbummlern rund um Junior Handlerin Nora Sutter verstärkt. Wir sind happy so ein tolles Team und so tolle Menschen um uns zu haben (vor allem wenn wir denken, was es für schwierige Leute alleine schon innerhalb unserer Rasse gibt).

Am Do morgen ging es dann ab in Richtung NEC, zum „heiligen grünen Teppich“ der Crufts…. es ist ein unglaubliches Feeling, CRUFTS kann man nicht beschreiben, man muss es erleben.
Wir haben viele Freunde aus nah und fern getroffen, wir danken euch allen für die netten Worte und das Mitfiebern. Am Nachmittag kamen wir dann nach einer riesigen Chow-Chow Gruppe endlich dran.
Unser Adrian startete in einer sehr großen „Open Class“ mit 11 Hunden. Leider hat es hier nicht zu einer Platzierung gereicht, mit einem so jungen Rüden ist das aber auch sehr, sehr schwer. Irina und Adrian, wir sind sehr stolz auf Euch.
Kimi startete in einer dagegen recht kleinen „Limit Class“ und hatte hier nur noch eine Mitstreiterin (wir hätten hier wirklich gerne mehr gehabt). Kimi wurde präsentiert von „ihrer“ Laura, und die beiden rockten erneut und konnten souverän den „1th Place“ sichern, was sind wir stolz auf Euch! Laura: Danke, dass du immer für uns da bist!
Gaya startete dann, wie Adrian, ebenfalls in der „Open Class“ mit 7 Entries, sie hatte hier deutlich mehr Probleme und ein wenig Stress, aber trotz allem konnte sie sich platzieren und erreichte dort das „Very Highly Commended (5th Place)“… wir sind sowas von happy.

Bei der Auswahl der besten Hündin konnte sich Kimi dann leider nicht gegen die spätere Siegerin (eine „creamy“ Hündin) durchsetzen und die Reserve ging an die 2. Platzierte.

Glückwunsch an alle Teilnehmer und ihre erbrachten Leistungen, es war uns ein Fest mit euch unsere Hunde und unsere Rasse präsentieren zu dürfen.

So schnell ging für uns dann auch schon wieder das Abenteuer CRUFTS zu Ende, am Freitagmorgen hieß es für uns schon wieder Abfahrt in Richtung Dover.

Gedanklich waren wir hier bei unserer Nora, die im Junior-Handling die Schweiz repräsentieren durfte. Auch sie war mit Abstand die jüngste Teilnehmerin. Leider reichte es diesmal nicht für eine Platzierung, aber sie wie gewohnt fantastisch präsentiert, wir sind unglaublich stolz auf dich und freuen uns schon jetzt auf ein baldiges Wiedersehen, aber hierzu im nächsten Post mehr.
Danke an meine Mum Ingrid die erneut als Schlachtenbummler dabei war, sowie an meinen Schatz Timo, der zuhause die Schäfis betreute. Ohne euch beide würde das alles nicht gehen, habt vielen Dank für alles!

What crazy days lie behind us now…
After Gaya (Malinoid Gloa Ohoh Gaya) and with Adrian (Amazing Adrian vom Limespark) and Akima (Amazing Akima vom Limespark) 2 of her offspring from our Schipperke A-litter qualified for the CRUFTS 2024, we thought for a long time whether we really „dare“ to start at the „mother of all shows“. And yes, we did!
So last Monday, our Irina flew in from Portugal with Adrian, then spent another night with us before heading to the ferry in Callais by car on Tuesday evening.
Here we met our Swiss friends Andrea and Laura Hitz. The crossing alone was an experience for all of us and when we arrived in Dover, things got serious… everyone drives on the wrong side of the road in the UK :)
But this task was also solved and after 300 miles in the UK we arrived tired but happy in Birmingham. In the evening, our team was joined by other Swiss supporters around junior handler Nora Sutter. We are happy to have such a great team and such great people around us (especially when we think what difficult people there are within our breed alone).
On Thursday morning we headed off to the NEC, to the „holy green carpet“ of Crufts…. it’s an incredible feeling, you can’t describe CRUFTS, you have to experience it.

We met many friends from near and far, thank you all for the kind words and for cheering us on. In the afternoon it was finally our turn after a huge Chow-Chow group.
Our Adrian started in a very large „Open Class“ with 11 dogs. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to place here, but that is also very, very difficult with such a young male dog. Irina and Adrian, we are very proud of you.
Kimi started in a rather small „Limit Class“ and only had one other competitor (we really would have liked to have had more here). Kimi started with „her“ Laura, and the two of them rocked again and were able to secure the „1st place“, we are so proud of you! Laura: Thank you for always being there for us!
Gaya then started, like Adrian, also in the „Open Class“ with 7 entries, she had a lot more problems here and a little stress, but despite everything she was able to place and achieved the „Very Highly Commended (5th Place)“… we are so happy.

In the selection of the best bitch, Kimi unfortunately could not prevail against the later winner (a „creamy“ girl) and the reserve went to the 2nd place winner.

Congratulations to all participants and their achievements, it was a pleasure to be able to present our dogs and our breed with you.

The CRUFTS adventure came to an end so quickly for us, and on Friday morning we had to leave again for Dover.

Our thoughts were with our Nora, who was representing Switzerland in the junior handling. She was also by far the youngest participant. Unfortunately she didn’t make it into the ranking this time, but as usual she presented herself fantastically, we are incredibly proud of you and are already looking forward to seeing you again soon, but more on that in the next post.
Thanks to my mom Ingrid, who was once again there as a supporter, and to my sweetheart Timo, who looked after the sheep at home. Without you both, none of this would have been possible, thank you very much for everything!
